No hand in Assam-Arunachal tension: NSCN (I-M)
Clarifying on the “fighting" that took place between Assam Police and 11th Gurkha Regt. at Kumkuh area on Aug 20, the NSCN spokesperson said “any blame should not be put on the NSCN for anything that happened in Arunachal Pradesh or anywhere else".
The NSCN (I-M) mentioned that there are countless insurgent groups in the northeast due to what it described as “all round mismanagement of the people in authority for decades together". Therefore blaming the NSCN(I-M) was “being prompted by sheer jealousies".
Further it asserted that the “troubles or disturbances" in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border were the result of border disputes between the two states.
It also suggested “firing incidents and armed confrontations in Arunachal Pradesh" were due to massive military build-up in the state by the Indian Government “in the fear of Chinese army and Burmese insurgents" and asked “why the NSCN be dragged into such a mess?"
