Pak intelligence warns flood victims' duplicate ID's may be used by terrorists
Lahore, Aug.21 (ANI): Pakistani intelligence agencies have expressed fears over terrorists taking advantage of the duplicate Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC), which have been issued to thousands of flood victims.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had announced that it would be providing duplicate CNIC's free of cost to all those flood victims who approach the authority for help.
Intelligence agencies have submitted a report to the concerned agencies warning of serious implications of such a move to distribute duplicate ID's among flood victims.
The reports said that terrorist groups could take advantage of the flood victims and pose as Pakistanis to trigger violence in the country, The Daily Times reports.
According to sources, in its report, intelligence agencies have recommended that the process of issuing duplicate and new CNICs to the flood victims should start after a few months, after they had been rehabilitated. (ANI)
