Singapore, Aug 17: After a rather eventless first day at the Youth Olympics 2010, Canada bagged give medal within 45 minutes on Monday, Aug 16.Out of the five medals, two were gold won by swimmer Rachel Nicol and wrestler Dori Yeats. Nicol of Lethbridge set a personal best time of 32.06 seconds in the womens 50-metre breaststroke to finish first and pocket the gold. ldquo;It feels great to get the gold, said the 17-year-old ace swimmer.The second gold for Canada came when Yeats defeated Jinju Moon of South Korea 4-0 in the womens 70-kilogram category. ldquo;Im very proud to be Canadian right now. Now Im just going to keep training, train harder and keep trying to win, said the athlete from Montreal.The rest of the three medals for Canada were bronzes grabbed by fencer Alexandre Lyssov, taekwondo athlete Melanie Phan and swimmer Jeremy Bagshaw.OneIndia News
