Omar shoe-thrower hospitalized for high BP
Abdul Jan, the assistant sub-inspector of police, flung a shoe at Omar Abdullah on Sunday, Aug 15 during the Independence Day function in the high-security Bakshi Stadium. Police reported that he would have used a politician's pass to enter the VIP enclosure during the function.
Abdul Jan was moved to hospital soon after his arrest. He is now being hailed as a hero in his home town Bandipore. But CM Omar played down the incident, saying that he would be happy if people throw shoes instead of stones, as this will not injure anybody.
With Sunday's shoe throwing incident, Centre is in great confusion over the chief minister"s growing unpopularity.
