New Delhi, Aug 12: After BJP raised demand of CWG OC chief, Suresh Kalmadi's resignation on Aug 12, now Congress also wanted to set up an investigation committee against him, though the proposal had been opposed by the government.
According the sources, Government feels there is no need to form a committee of bureaucrats to look into the controversy surrounding the alleged mismanagement in CWG organization as well as the conduct of Kalmadi.
The Government continued to say that holding Commonwealth Games successfully is its priority not any other thing.
However, BJP leader said, "Enough is enough. Now Kalmadi must resign. The Government should take over the organisation of the Games."
Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) leader, also asked Kalmadi to step down, saying the objective of free and fair investigations cannot be carried out if he remains at the helm of affairs.
However, Congress leader Shukla said, "We are for fair investigations. Nobody is shying away from any investigations. But successful organisation of the Games is very important as very few days are left."
