New Delhi, Aug.9 (ANI): Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy on Monday sought cooperation from all political parties and other quarters to make the 2010 Commonwealth Games a success.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha today, Reddy appealed to all parties to come together and make the games a success as he said, "All of us, cutting across party lines, should rise to make the games successful and spectacular."
He assured the House that Government will ensure that the corrupt are pursued to the "end of the earth".
"We all know that the CVC and other constitutional bodies do their job, but if every primary observation is blown up to a scam, then we cannot function," he stated.
Reddy admitted nobody could deny that corruption hasn't taken place. "I don't say that corruption has not taken place. No one can say that. All irregularities will be inquired into exhaustively."e, however, asserted "we will be staging the best Commonwealth Games in history."
Replying to the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirti Azad today for comparing him with Mahabharata's "Bhishm Pitamaha", Reddy said as of now he would like to be focused like Arjun.
He reassured the Lok Sabha that the projects will be ready before the games.
Reddy said most of the projects will be completed by August 31, barring the Barapullah Nallah project which would be over only by September.
Earlier, in the morning, Lok Sabha witnessed a heated debate between the government and the Opposition over a demand for a joint parliamentary probe into all allegations of corruption related to the Commonwealth Games.
The BJP MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad, likened the games mess to a "big fat Indian wedding" without the groom.
Alleging that the government agencies were seeking a license to corruption, Azad said the wealth is missing out of these Commonwealth Games, just common remains. (ANI)
