Police arrest two Maoists in Orissa

Keonjhar (Orissa), Aug 6 (ANI): Police arrested two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) rebels in Orissa's Keonjhar District.

A.K. Singh, Superintendent of Police, Keonjhar District said that both were involved in several crimes, including the attack on the Daitari Police Station, last month.

"Two people have been arrested, one is Ambika Nayak and Sidio Sahua and both were involved in the Daitari police station attack. They were also involved in another case of Morto, in which they have attacked and ransacked a house in 2008. They are active members of Communal division community and they were involved in local area community, which is Pathargarh area community in which one was secretary of the local Pathargarh area committee. Both have been arrested by the local police and further enquiry will take place," said Singh.

One of the Maoists has accepted that both of them were actively involved in the incident of torching Daitari Police Station and abducted a police constable on July 07, 2010.

"In 2007, the Chasimulia committee was formed. I was the president of that committee. We had gone to attend the party and after that we set fire to that police station and kidnapped Marandi, a police constable there and took him to the forest." By Sarda Lehaingir (ANI)
