New Delhi, Aug 6: In a bid to win back its lost credibility, the Organising Committee (OC) of the Delhi Commonwealth Games (CWG) suspended three errant officials while treasurer Amit Khanna quit on his own.
OC on Thursday, Aug 5 suspended Joint Director-General T S Darbari, Deputy Director- General Sanjay Mahindroo, and Joint Director-General (Finance and Account) M Jayachandran.
The suspension of the officials for their 'dubious' role in payment for services rendered during the Queen's Baton Relay (QBR) in London came after Committee treasurer Anil Khanna quit citing 'personal reasons'.
Khanna's resignation came after allegations that his son Aditya's firm had bagged a contract for laying synthetic courts in the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Complex.
AK Mattoo, who had earlier resigned as treasurer on Jan 17 amid the hockey crisis, has been re-appointed.
The suspensions came even as the Sports Minister, MS Gill tried to shift focus from the corruption allegations against the OC and told the Rajya Sabha to have faith that India will successfully hold Commonwealth Games 2010.
