Have faith in the elected govt: PC tells Kashmiris
New Delhi, Aug 5: As the violence in the valley rages on, Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram has urged the people of Kashmir to give up protests and to put their faith in the elected government.
“I would urge all sections of the people of J&K to heed the voices of reason and desist from violent protests. Mindless violence and destruction of public property will not lead to any solution," the minister said in the parliament.
He assured that the state government was “actively considering a number of political and administrative measures" in a bid to restore peace in the violence-torn valley.
As to the security forces deployed in the state to contain the unrest, the Home Minister point out that security forces have conducted themselves with “commendable restraint in a highly-volatile situation".
He also told the parliament that the security forces have been directed to deal with the crowds in a restrained manner.
