Price rise debate set to echo in the Parliament
New Delhi, Aug 3: A day after the government and Opposition agreed to put an end to the deadlock over price rise, both the houses of the Parliament is set to debate the issue.
The agreement was reached on Monday, Aug 2 at a breakfast meeting held by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. At the meet, the Leader of the House in Lok Sabha managed to persuade the Opposition to give up its demand for voting.
As per the consensus, the debate will be held under Rule 342, which is designed to "consider policy, situation, statement or any other matter" and does not entail voting.
While in Lok Sabha, the Speaker Meira Kumar will be reading out a resolution on the price rise issue on Tuesday, Aug 3, a similar process will take place in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Aug 4.
