New Delhi, Aug 3: In the wake of the controversy over the transfer of a large sum of money to a British firm, Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee chairman, Suresh Kalmadi on Tuesday, Aug 3 met external affairs minister SM Krishna.
The Kalmadi-Krishna meeting comes in the backdrop of questions if the Indian high commission in London had recommended the firm to which 4.50 lakh pounds was remitted by the Delhi Commonwealth Games organisers.
Kalmadi had earlier claimed that the OC remitted A M Films for providing services as it was recommended by the high commission.
To substantiate his claim, he also cited an e-mail by a clerk-level official of the mission.
But the trouble mounted for Kalmadi, who was already drowning in a slew of allegations of corruption slapped against OC, when the high commission denied making any such recommendation.
According to sources, Krishna is learnt to have backed the claims of the high commission against that of Kalmadi's.
