Rain plays havoc in north India

New Delhi, Aug 1: Heavy rains lashed across North India has resulted flood situation in many districts.

Heavy showers disrupted normal life in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, triggering landslides and uprooting trees which led to disruption of power supply and telecommunication links at many places.

The rains also uprooted trees in many areas of the national capital.

Due to heavy rains three more die in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the official sources, a 28-year-old woman and her two minor children died in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district on Sunday, Jul 1, when the roof of their house collapsed over them due to incessant rains.

These deaths have taken the number of people killed in rain-related incidents in the state to 76, they said.

Where as in Chandigarh and its surrounding areas also received heavy showers which threw normal life out of gear.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 30.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

Rains also lashed Sonepat, Ambala, Karnal and a few other places in Haryana and Mohali and Patiala in Punjab bringing down the mercury which dropped by a few notches.

Amritsar in Punjab received light rains and the maximum there settled at 34.4 deg C.
