Nuclear deal: India, US ink reprocessing deal
Washington, Jul 31: Taking another step towards the implementation of the landmark and rather contentious Indo-US civil nuclear deal, the two countries have signed a pact on the nuclear fuel reprocessing arrangements.
Indian Ambassador to the US Meera Shankar and the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Bill Burns signed the agreement on Friday, Jul 30.
The pact will enable reprocessing by India of US-obligated nuclear material at a new national reprocessing facility.
A new facility for the reprocessing arrangements will be set up by India under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards.
