"Whatever has been happening in Gujarat since last week shows that Congress has accepted its defeat in Gujarat. In the next assembly election Congress is going to field CBI officials against our candidates," said Modi.
This is for the first time that Modi has given a statesment on Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, since his close aide Amit Shah had been arrested.
But even as Modi had slammed the CBI, the agency prepared to take the Sohrabuddin encounter investigation beyond Gujarat to include top Rajasthan BJP leaders too.
Sohrabuddin was killed by the Gujarat police in a fake encounter in 2005.
He was alleged to be a terrorist planning to assassinate Modi to avenge the death of Muslims killed during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
According the sources, there is a strong possibility that the CBI may request the Supreme Court to transfer the Prajapati case to the agency as the two cases may be linked.
Prajapati, who was killed in 2006, was the sole witness to the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
