Kuala Lumpur, July 30 (ANI): A. Sivanesan, a Sungkai assemblyman in Malaysia, has expressed his disappointment over the fact that the Barisan Nasional government in Perak has only appointed 35 Indians among the 368 new councilors and criticised the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) for being unable to look after the interests of the Indian community.

"Since Indians made up 13 percent of the state's electorate, MIC should have been allocated at least 45 councillor positions," The Star quoted Democratic Action Party (DAP) A. Sivanesan, as saying.

Sivanesan also said that the Pakatan Rakyat state government, prior to being toppled, had appointed 45 Indian councillors in 2008 and 57 in 2009. (ANI)
