Quetta, July 28(ANI): US Consul-General in Karachi, William Martin, has said that the proposed plan for setting up an American consulate in Quetta is a commitment that will be fulfilled soon.
Martin said that the proposed consulate would allow US officials to work closely with the Balochistan government and the NGOs to design and implement aid projects.
He further praised the Pakistan government for supporting the US-backed war on terrorism.
"Notwithstanding the fact that we like all mature people and entities have had our differences, but in the end it is important that we have stood together," Dawn quoted Martin, as saying.
"We applaud Pakistan's elected representatives, civil servants and community activists who speak out against extremism and work for a better future for all Pakistanis," he added.
He also said that the Obama administration would provide assistance to Pakistan for the development of the country.
"We will also provide assistance to help Pakistan improve it regulatory and fiscal regimes in order to attract more investment to develop this critical resource," he added. (ANI)
