The two men went lost after driving out of a military base without an escort on on Friday, Jul 23.
The Taliban said that they had killed one of them and abducted the other.
A spokesman for the provincial governor told the BBC that tribal elders and religious leaders had succeecded in negotiating with people who had captured the man and requested to keep him in Logar than handing over to chief Taliban forces.
One of them was killed by local Taliban soon after the captured. The BBC's David Loyn,in Kabul, says there is no information about the men's mission.
A Nato statement said that those keeping the man as a captive would be held accountable for his safety.
