Washington, Jul 27: The new amendment by US government will allow the users to unlock or 'jailbreak' their iPhone.
The amendments to the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act will allow users to unlock their phones without violating the law. The new amendments will help to run third-party applications on their iPhones that have not been approved by Apple.
The decision of allowing of third-party applications in mobile phones by the Copyright Office of the Library of Congress will enable the devices to work with multiple carriers.
However, Apple stated that the running of unauthorised programmes on iPhones could lead to potential problems with the smartphone.
