Seraikela (Jharkhand), July 26 (ANI): Disappointed by the delay in the onset of monsoon, tribals of Podaka village in Jharkhand's Seraikela District performed prayers and traditional rituals to appease the rain god.

The three-day-long prayers concluded on Sunday with a shower of rain.

A tribal was also tied loosely with rope and left at the altar for three days as part of the ritual.

"We pray here annually, and this year we have tied him for three days as there is no rain and drought-like situation has come up," said Vishwanath Singh Munda, a local villager.

The tribal who was tied up to appease the deity said it is important for God to see the ritual.

"I am here only for past three days. This is a ritual to show to God. If God doesn't see this, then he will not give us rain. It means Dharna (Protest)," said Jalan Singh Munda. By Anup Sinha (ANI)
