4 killed in bomb attack on Arabiya TV in Baghdad
Baghdad, Jul 26: At least 4 people were killed and 10 injured in a suicide bombing near the Baghdad office of the al-Arabiya satellite television station on Monday, Jul 26.
Accodring to the Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qassim al-Moussawi, the bomber, driving a mini-van, blew up the vehicle near the entrance of Arabiya's office in Baghdad's western district of Harithiya, killing a cleaner and three guards.
Arabiya TV also reported four people were killed and said none of them were reporters. The blast wounded atleast 16 people.
“The car was searched at one checkpoint but was allowed to move ahead," said Qassem Atta, an official from the ministry told Al-Arabiya TV.
Atta said he had information that a branch of the Al Qaeda terrorist network had been planning to attack the television station.
Al Arabiya is an Arabic-language television news station, launched on Mar 3, 2003. It is rated among the top pan-Arab stations by Middle East audiences.
