Mumbai, Jul 25: After a small-scale underworld war, which was reported on Saturday, Jul 24, from Mumbai's Arthur Road jail, where Abu Salem was attacked by a member of Dawood Ibrahim"s gang was shifted to the Taloja Central Jail.
Salem's lawyer, Saba Qureshi said, “the decision came after Salem was attacked by a rival gangster in the jail. His safety is more important, hence he was shifted on Saturday, Jul 24."
Salem was attacked by Mustafa Dossa, a member of absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim"s gang, with sharp object. He was injured and doctors are treating him inside the jail. A police team is at the spot.
42-year-old Salem has been convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and is also facing trial for the 1997 murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar. He is facing trial in connection with a total of nine cases, which includes two murders.
