German Sebastian Vettel clocked the fastest time for team Red Bull in front of home fans in Saturday morning's final practice for Sunday's German Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old Red Bull driver set a time of one minute 15.103 seconds on his final lap of the session just two thousands of a second ahead of Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Ferrari by 0.2 seconds.
It was Red Bull and Ferrari setting the bar throughout the practice session with Mclaren and Mercedes coming close to the bar set.
Vettel's teammate Mark Webber was third fastest followed by Brazilian felipe Massa in the second Ferrari.
Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher was seventh fastest in the second Mercedes, two places behind his teammate Nico Rosberg who clocked fifth fastest just ahead of Mclaren driver Lewis Hamilton.
