Congress slams Modi for criticising CBI
New Delhi, Jul 24: The Congress thrashed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for criticising the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its probe into the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
Congress general secretary BK Hariprasad on Saturday, Jul 24 told that Modi has no right to criticise CBI as the probe into Sheikh's killing was held under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
He also told that by criticising CBI, Modi was attacking the Supreme Court.
"By attacking CBI, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attacking the apex court. The CBI investigation is being monitored by the Supreme Court. And Modi is speaking against the Supreme Court," said Hariprasad.
On Saturday, Jul 24 morning, before announcing the resignation of Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah, Modi accused the Congress of misusing the CBI to fabricate allegations against his minister and also conspiring to hamper the development of Gujarat.
The Congress also asked Amit Shah to surrender before the CBI.
