New Delhi, Jul 23: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dished out a snub to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, who had invited the main opposition party for a lunch on Friday, Jul 23 to break the deadlock over crucial issues, especially the Indo-US nuke liability bill.
According to the latest TV media reports, the Prime Minister may call off the lunch as BJP leaders have decided to give it a miss.
Dr Singh was scheduled to hold the customary lunch on Friday, Jul 23 ahead of Parliament's monsoon session, which kick starts on Monday, Jul 26.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley were among the chief guests while Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pawan Kumar Bansal were also expected to be part of the lunch.
Besides, the contentious nuke deal Goods and Services Tax (GST), which is being considered as a ambitious indirect tax reform, was also on the table for discussions.
