Indian food price index falls to 12.47 percent
New Delhi, Jul 22: The official data released on Thursday, Jul 22 revealed that the food price index fell to 12.47 percent compared to 12.81 percent in 2009.
The food price index was calculated for the week ended in July 10, 2010 comparing the index in the corresponding period in 2009.
The index for fuel, power, light and lubricants group was at 14.27 percent, whereas it was minus 10.05 percent in 2009.
The annual rate of inflation in respect of primary articles stood at 16.48 percent which was at 6.45 percent during 2009.
The index for food articles group rose 0.6 percent due to higher prices of poultry chicken (6 percent), condiments and spices (3 percent) and milk, gram, fish-inland and fruit and vegetables (1 percent each).
