New Delhi/Ahmedabad, July 22 (ANI): Congress Party on Thursday demanded justice should be done in the murder case of a Right to Information activist in Gujarat.

Speaking in the national capital Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari, said: "You have an MP (Member of Parliament) on the run because family of a RTI activist believes that he was allegedly responsible for the murder of that activist, so on one hand since one matter is subjudice and the other is in a stage of investigation, we only want that the justice be done."

In Ahmedabad, however, defending the lawmaker Solanki, who is reportedly on the run, Jainarayan Vyas, Health Minister of Gujarat state urged that conclusions should not be reached until the matter is thoroughly investigated in an unbiased manner.

"We can understand the feelings of the near and dear ones of the person who is (was) assassinated. Our sympathies are there with them. Such circumstances whenever they arise, I think the best course is to permit the law to take its own course. Let the investigations proceed in unbiased and independent manner and await the outcome of the investigations," said Vyas.

Jethwa, in his PIL had further alleged that the suspected lawmaker and his relatives were also running illegal mines and stone crushers in a village, skirting the Gir forest.

Meanwhile, the family members of Amit Jethwa have continued to press their demand for bringing the perpetrators to book thus increasing the pressure on the state government to start inquiry against the lawmaker and his relations. (ANI)
