Hyderabad, Jul 22: BJP on Wednesday, Jul 21 asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah to call for an all-party meet to take the state's Oppostion parties into confidence on the Babli issue before meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the matter.
Chief Minister is scheduled to advocate an all-party delegation which will call on Manmohan Singh on Jul 26 in Delhi. The conference aims to discuss contentious Babli barrage issue which raised the political agitations in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra following the protest, arrest and dramatic release of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu.
BJP National Secretary K Laxman urged K Rosaiah to convene the all-party meet immediately to discuss about the issue, before it gets further complicated.
The Centre should take initiative and call a meeting of chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to find an amicable solution to the dispute pending since 2005, Laxman said. He also condemned the 'excesses' by Maharashtra police while dealing with the protests led by Naidu. He said that the withdrawal of cases against TDP leaders by Maharashtra Government indicated that they have admitted their 'mistakes'.
