United Airlines flight hits turbulence; 30 injured
Denver, Jul 21: 30 people were injured when a United Airlines jetliner was diverted to Denver after hitting a heavy turbulence in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Jul 21, reported the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The condition of one among the injured is critical.
The flight 967, started from Dulles International Airport near Washington, DC had 255 passengers and 10 crew members on board. The crew decided to play it safe and land in Denver to take care of the passengers.
It landed safely at Denver International Airport at around 7:45 pm on Tuesday (8:15 am IST, Wednesday, Jul 21) and was met by medical crews.
Ian Gregor, an FAA spokesman said that 26 passengers and four crew members were injured, one among them being critical. He refused to release further details. The injured have been transported to five area hospitals. Most of them have moderate injuries on head, neck or back, reported Denver Health Medical Centre spokesperson Dee Martinez.
