Ahmedabad, Jul 21: Bhikabhai Jethwa, father of the information rights activist Amit Jethwa who was shot dead by two assailants on Tuesday, Jul 20 night, alleged that a BJP MP could be behind his son's killing.
Bhikabhai said that BJP MP Dinu Solanki had many times threatened both of them over the phone. He was talking to the media while he revealed that Solanki had threatened them several times in Khamba and in Kodinar. He had also threatened him in public, in front of a huge crowd, he said.
Jethwa had recently filed a public interest litigation (PIL) against the illegal mining in Gir forest area in the High Court recently. He was shot dead on Jul 20 from close range by two assailants while returning back from the office of his lawyer opposite the Gujarat High Court.
Solanki could not be reached on his cell phone or land-line number at his residence and office to know the responds despite repeated efforts.
BJP spokesman IK Jadeja, when asked about the comment refused to make any statements saying that it was not a political issue. Allegations are often made but when they are proved, party will discuss and take action, he said.
