Karzai promises safety of Indians in Afghanistan
Kabul, Jul 20: Following several terror strikes in which Indians in Afghanistan were targeted, Kabul on Monday, Jul 19 assured New Delhi that it would take all possible steps to ensure the safety and security of Indians in the country.
The Indian government has deployed several individuals and organisations to carry out development work in Afghanistan, which has been facing terror strikes by Taliban.
While Kabul assured the safety of the Indians engaged in development work, New Delhi in turn vowed to support President Hamid Karzai's efforts towards peace and stability of the region so that development could be facilitated.
External Affairs Minister SM Krishna spoke to Mr Karzai at the Presidential Palace here on Monday, Jul 19 in a meeting that lasted over 45 minutes.
“The meeting was very useful and cordial," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said.
The Indian minister will be attending International Conference on Afghanistan on Tuesday, Jul 20.
