Trinamool MP delivered weapons to Maoists
Kolkata, Jul 17: Trinamool Congress MP Subhendu Adhikari supplied arms and ammunition to Maoists during the Nandigram violence in 2007, claimed CID on Friday, Jul 16.
According to the daily DNA, MP Subhendu is the son of MoS for rural development Sisir Adhikari, who led the land movement in Nandigram.
The CID report showed that during the Nandigram movement, Subhendu supplied over 1,000 rounds of ammunition to the Maoists and took support from them to counter attack on CPI(M) activists in the region.
The recently arrested Maoist zonal committee secretary at Nandigram, Madhusudan Mondal confessed that Subhendu had supplied arms to the rebels.
According to the tabloid report, Mondal also confessed how they trained the activists of Trinamool led Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (Land Eviction Resistance Committee) about the usages of arms.
"It is a deliberate attempt to malign me and the image of my party. Our movement was always peaceful and hence only our activists were killed," said Subhendu.
