Brit Man fined £50 for dropping matchstick burning his finger
London, July 16 (ANI): A Brit man was fined 50 pounds for dropping a match that was burning his finger.
Kenneth Bonnar, 68, was waiting to collect his great-granddaughter Shannon from primary school when he lit up his pipe.
But a council warden spotted the burning match fall to the ground and collared Kenneth as he walked away with Shannon.
"It's ridiculous. The council would be better tackling real litterbugs. I didn't mean to drop the match. It was burning my finger. I completely forgot to pick it up when Shannon came out," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
"The enforcement officer said 'We're going to have to fine you 50 pounds. You dropped a matchstick'.
"I said 'Yes, because it burned my finger'. But it was still littering, according to this officer. I have paid the fine," added Bonnar.
Councillor Ian Openshaw claims that enforcement officers give people ample time to pick up what they have dropped, but in this case Bonnar left the matchstick on the ground. (ANI)
