Visakhapatnam, Jul 15 (ANI): Australian fugitive Paul Henry Dean alias Parvi Raj, who has been accused of sexually abusing orphans and street children in India, appeared before a local court in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

The 67-year-old was arrested in the city way back on August 22, 2001, but jumped bail and moved to neighbouring Orissa where he allegedly committed the same crimes.

Dean has been charged with Section 377, offences relating to unnatural sex against the order of nature, Section 292 relating to obscenity and other sections relating to passport violations.

"Charges 377, 292...Passport Act and Foreigners Act," said Sai, Dean's counsel, in reply to a reporter's query.

The Visakhapatnam court, where the trial began in camera on July 8, adjourned the hearing till August 13.

Dean travelled on a fake passport under the name of Alan Herbert Rose, and arrived in India in early 1977. (ANI)
