Apple on damage control mode, press conf on Jul 16
San Francisco, Jul 15: On suffering scarring complaints on iPhone's poor signal reception, Apple Inc seems to have gotten into the damage control mode and has decided to hold a press conference on Friday, Jul 16.
Late on Wednesday, Jul 14, Apple spokesperson Steve Dowling announced that the the company will speak to media personnel at 10 am on Friday, Jul 16 at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Until now, the tech major had been ignoring and dismissing reports on reception problems of its popular smartphone. This behaviour from the company turned into a huge public relations disaster.
While the consumers made their grouses loud and clear on public forums, analysts slammed the lack of efforts on the part of Apple to recall the malfunctioning devices.
The earlier statement from Apple explaining that the problem was caused by a software glitch that overstates network signal strength was also dismissed as many believe that the fault lies in the hardware itself.
Adding to the reception complaint, last week there was a report of an iPhone 4 catching fire and causing burns to the user.
