PM to meet Chief Ministers of Naxal-affected States
New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will address a specially convened meeting of chief ministers of all Naxal-affected states here on Wednesday to plan out a fresh strategy to curtail the Maoists menace.
Official sources said chief ministers of Orissa, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar will attend Wednesday's meeting.
Jharkhand will be represented by its Governor M.O.H Farook, as it is under the President's rule.
There are reports that the plan to redeploy paramilitary forces engaged in anti-Naxal operations and development schemes undertaken under the aegis of the Planning Commission are expected to be taken up for discussion.
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will brief the chief ministers about the plans of the Central Government and seek their suggestions over the same.
The meeting comes following a series of attacks in the recent months in the States of Chhattisgarh and Orissa. (ANI)
