Missing Iran nuke scientist found in Pak embassy
Tehran, Jul 13: Iran"s state radio reported that the missing Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri, has taken refuge at Pakistan"s embassy in Washington, which handles diplomacy for Iran.
"A few hours ago Shahram Amiri took refuge at Iran"s interest section at the Pakistan embassy in Washington, wanting to return to Iran immediately," Iran"s state radio said Tuesday, Jul 13.
Shahram Amiri was working for Iran"s Atomic Energy Organisation. He disappeared about a year ago while on a pilgrimage trip to Saudi Arabia.
Iran accused that Saudi officials have handed him over to the US secret agency CIA. But Saudi Arabia and US have denied the accusation.
Later in Jul 2010, Iran said it had proof he was being held in the US.
ABC News reported in Mar 2010 that Amiri had defected and was helping the CIA.
