Strong 6.2 tremor hits Chile
Santiago, Jul 12: A strong earthquake of 6.2 magnitude jolted northeastern Chile on Sunday, Jul 11.
There were no report of damage or casualties in Calama and in San Pedro de Atacama which is considered as the country's most popular tourist centres, reported the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Chile's National Emergency Office informed that the telephone lines were saturated after the earthquake but they added that the situation has been 'normalized'.
The quake happened at 8:11 pm (00:11 GMT Sunday).
