Farooq Abdullah meets PC over Kashmir chaos
New Delhi, Jul 10: Ahead of the all-party meeting called for by the Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday, Jul 12 to discuss the situation in the state, former Chief Minister and the father of the present, Farooq Abdullah met the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on the same matter.
Union Minister and the patron of the ruling National Conference in Jammu Kashmir, Dr Abdullah is learnt to have discussed the steps taken by the state as well as the Central government to bring the state back to normalcy.
The valley has erupted in violent protests and agitations amid clashes between civilians and security forces and death of civilians in alleged CRPF firing.
The curfew that was imposed on Tuesday, Jul 6 in a bid to maintain law and order was lifted temporarily on Friday, Jul 9 night in the Kashmir Valley so that people to offer prayers at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar.
However, curfew is still effective on Sopore and Pulwama.
On Jul 6, the army was also called in to assist the local administrations in maintaining law and order.
