Vodafone Official found dead in Mumbai hotel

Mumbai, Jul 8: A woman was found dead in a swimming pool of a five-star hotel ITC Grand Maratha in Mumbai on Wednesday, Jul 7.

The victim, Indumati Subramaniam was working as the Deputy General Manager with Vodafone company in Chennai.

She had come to Mumbai for a training workshop. No foul play was suspected till Thursday, Jul 8.

Indumati was noticed in the swimming pool by a man. She was rushed to nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

"The swimming pool was closed today due to the rains and so the instructor was not around. We are verifying all the leads but so far we have recorded a case of accidental death," said DCP Satyanarayan to CNN-IBN.

"We are shocked to hear of the tragic demise of our colleague Indumati today at Mumbai. Our immediate thoughts and concerns are for her family who we are in touch with. We are awaiting more details about the tragic incident from investigating authorities," said Vodafone officials.

According to CNN-IBN report, Mumbai police had registered an accidental death report.

However, investigations are on to ascertain if it was a case of suicide, death due to drowning or murder.
