Plot to kill Pak Prez Zardari foiled
Islamabad, Jul 8: The conspiracy to kill Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was unveiled by the investigations, reported the Daily Times newspaper on Wednesday, Jul 8.
The six suspects detained for alleged links to the major attacks in Pakistan told the investigators that they were planning to attack Zardari at the Governor House, informed an unnamed security officer. They wanted to launch the attack on the President during his upcoming visit to Lahore.
The terrorists revealed that they had collected the explosives to blaze out the Governor House to kill Zardari, informed the official.
The suspects also said that they wanted to launch an attack on Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as well. Security officials found a detailed map of the Governor House in Lahore among the documents captured from the terrorists.
The six suspects were arrested in the wake of the suicide attack on the Data Darbar Sufi Shrine in Lahore, which claimed the lives of 45 people.
