US: Indian techie's body found in Lake Michigan

Chicago, Jul 7: A 32-year-old Indian software engineer, who was reported missing, was found dead in the Lake Michigan near Chicago.

The Indian techie identified as Vidhya Sagar Verma landed in US on May 20 to work on a company project. The multi-national company that Verma worked for was contacted by worried relatives of the Faridabad-based engineer when they did not receive any calls from him for a few days.

After searching his room, the company filed a missing person's report.

As per records, Verma went missing on Jun 19. The police later found the techie's body in Lake Michigan and informed a relative of Verma, identified as PK Kapur, on his death.

The police are currently speaking only to the deceased's family and has refrained from revealing any details to the media.

The exact cause of death or the time of death are unclear.

Indian Consulate officials in Chicago has informed that it issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and the body was transported to India on Saturday, Jul 3.
