Abu Dhabi, Jul 6: India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will cooperate in preserving documents related to the cultural ties between the two countries.

UAE's National Centre for Documentation and Research (NCDR) will cooperate with National Archives of India as well as other Indian cultural institutions to document the history of India-UAE relations.

Indian Ambassador to UAE, M K Lokeesh, visited the NCDR and discussed on establishing ties between the NCDR and the National Archives of India and other Indian cultural institutions.

"M K Lokeesh suggested cooperation between the NCDR and relevant agencies in India to document the history of India-UAE relations based on published books as well as historical documents," said Abdullah El Reyes, Director General of the NCDR.

"The NCDR has benefited from the documents, related to the history of the UAE and the Gulf area, preserved in the archives of Mumbai, in Goa archives which contain the Portuguese documents, as well as in New Delhi and Kerala archives," he added.

Abdullah El Reyes expressed the possibility of coordination between Indian academic institutions in the fields of archive, documentation and information technology.
