Serena Williams wins fourth Wimbledon title

By Devaki

London, Jun 4: Serena Williams overthrew Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday, July 3 to conquer her fourth Wimbledon title and her 13th Grand Slam.

Serena, the American world number one, won the title in 67 minutes.

Vera Zvonareva, when asked about her experience with Williams said, “She"s very powerful. It"s very difficult to put her in defense. If you have to handle 120mph serves it"s not easy. She"s beatable. She"s a human being. She"s not a machine."

Williams was fit and exacting against Zvonareva and corralled her serve placing it on the lines very often. Williams, whose serve kept Zvonareva off-balance and flat-footed, also made the Russian champion to bury her head in the towel during the changeovers during the exciting tournament.

Williams, after the match, said that to have four Wimbledon is 'really, really exciting'. "I honestly didn't think I was playing my best. I felt like my strokes were off, especially in the first week. I'm just happy to have gotten through that." she said.
