Chennai, Jul 2: The principal of Kodaikanal Public School has been arrested in connection with the molestation case of a Bhutanese girl student.
Sheefa Paul, the principal of the school, was on Thursday, Jul 1 arrested over the sexual harassment case filed against the school administrator and main accused, ML Bright. 36-year-old Paul was arrested for being an accomplice.
"Sheeba Pau was arrested Thursday afternoon (Jul 1) at Kodaikanal (520 km from here) and was remanded to custody. She has been lodged in Nilakottai sub-jail," a police official said.
The principal has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
73-year-old Bright has been absconding ever since the guardian of the class nine student filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him.
Three police teams have been deployed in Kerala, Madurai, Kodaikanal in search of the accused.
Bright, who was staying with seventeen girls in the hostel, has been accused of sexually harassing the student.
However, Bright and Paul along with other school authorities insist that the accusation is false.
Bright's anticipatory bail plea is scheduled for hearing on Monday, Jul 5.
