Srinagar, Jun 28: Tension arose in Sopore again after the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly opened fire on the funeral procession of the youngster, who was earlier killed in CRPF firing.
The funeral procession has now reportedly turned into large protests. The fresh clashes and agitations are just a continuation of what has been happening over the weekend.
On Friday, Jun 25, two youngsters were killed in CRPF firing after protesters attacked security personnel after two militants were gunned down in an encounter.
This lead to an indefinite curfew being imposed since Jun 25 evening. However, groups of civilians defied the curfew and came out on the streets to hold demonstrations on Saturday, Jun 26.
20-year-old Bilal Ahmed was one among the youngsters killed in the Jun 25 firing. The funeral procession of Bilal was taken out on Monday, Jun 28 leading to the fresh clashes between the security forces and civilians.
The CRPF has however denied that it opened fire at the funeral procession stating that the force was only escorting J-K Police.
