Srinagar, Jun 28: Amid the raging protests and clashes in the valley, the death toll of civilians went up by one more on Monday, Jun 28 when yet another person was killed in CRPF firing.
The CRPF personnel allegedly opened fire to disperse a mob, that was pelting stones on its battalion headquarters in Sopore, 55 kms from Srinagar, in North Kashmir.
Incidentally, the mob gathered in protest of the death of two other youths in CRPF firing a few days back.
Fresh protests and clashes broke out on Monday, Jun 28 after CRPF personnel allegedly opened fire on the funeral procession of Bilal Ahmed Wani, who was killed on Jun 25, in clashes between security forces and civilians over an encounter in which three militants were killed.
When the agitating crowd did not back off despite several rounds of tear gas, the CRPF was left with no other option but to open fire. One civilian was killed in the firing, reports quoting official sources said.
With the body count soaring higher and higher there seems to be no end to the turbulence in Jammu Kashmir.
