Beijing, Jun 28: Somali pirates continue to strike at will as they have now hijacked a India-bound Singaporean ship, on its way from Saudi Arabia.

The ship, 'Golden Blessing", with 19 Chinese sailors on board was on Monday, Jun 28 hijacked by pirates in waters of the Gulf of Aden, the China Marine Rescue Centre said.

Xinhua news agency reported that unknown number of pirates carried out the hijack. Rescue effort is under way.

Chinese naval task force has been deployed in the Gulf of Aden to check the pirate attacks on Chinese and international ships sailing through it.

However, the heavily armed pirates using speed boats continue to prey on ships. They take hostages and demand heavy ransom from government or ship-owners.

Earlier in 2010, the Somali pirates carried out their biggest strike ever by hijacking eight Indian boats carrying 150 Indian sailors off the Kismayo coast.
