Anti-Drug abuse campaign in Delhi and Mumbai

New Delhi/Mumbai, June 26 (ANI): The Narcotics Control Bureau organised a marathon on the occasion of 'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking' in New Delhi on Saturday.

A contingent of 6th Battalion of Railway Protection Special Force (RPF) comprising one Assistant Commandant, two Inspectors, four Sub-Inspectors, two Head Constables and 50 Constables participated in this marathon, along with other paramilitary forces, and other Non-Government Organisations.

"We are trying to create consciousness about drug abuse. We are requesting people involved in the cases of drug abuse to come out of this bad habit. We are targeting youth and students and creating awareness among them," said O P S Malik, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau.

The campaign was held to increase awareness about drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking among children and youth.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav took part in an Anti-Narcotics awareness campaign at Bandra station in Mumbai.

"There are inputs about the young people taking to drugs because of a variety of reasons. So we are targeting the vulnerable groups that is the youth on international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking," said K M M Prasanna, Deputy Commissioner of police, Bandra area.

The United Nation General Assembly in a Resolution passed in December 1987 proclaimed June 26 of each year as the 'International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking'. (ANI)
