Cardiff (Wales), June 25(ANI): Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has put the responsibility on himself and the rest of team's batsmen to provide his inexperienced bowling attack with larger totals to defend in their one-day series against England.

Australia has failed to register score big in the tournament so far, where England have comfortably chased down their scores of 7-267 and 7-239 in the opening two games in Southampton and Cardiff respectively.

"We have to address that obviously; I and the guys at the top need to be consistent run scorers, and we haven't done that in the first two games," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.

"From the outside today, it probably looks like we bowled pretty poorly, but we would have bowled better if we'd had more on the board," he added.

The 35-year-old, who has made a slow start to the England tour with scores of 33 against Ireland, 17 against Middlesex, 21 and 13 against England, further believes that he needs to be consistent with big scores.

"I have not got any, I felt pretty good in the first game, but did not go on and get a big score there and was not great today. Batting in the top order it is your job to make big scores and make them consistently," Ponting said.

"I have not done that in the first two games. Three games to go and hopefully I can do that in the last three games," he added.

England leads the five match ODI series 2-0 ahead of Sunday's game three at Old Trafford in Manchester. (ANI)
