London, June 24(ANI): England batsman Eoin Morgan, who has re-defined the art of batting with his range of unorthodox strokes, reckons that it is time to "change the coaching manuals".

Since making his England debut last year, Morgan has become one of the world's top limited-overs batsmen.

"I put in a hell of a lot of hard work, much of it in my own time. I've been working hard on playing the ball as I see it. If the circumstances are right, I will play my unorthodox shots," The Sun quoted Morgan, as saying.

"They are becoming part and parcel of the game, but I don't know whether they will change the coaching manuals. The game is advancing all the time and that's fantastic," he added.

Morgan further said that he was satisfied with his 103 not out from 85 balls, which helped his team to a four-wicket win over Australia in Tuesday's first ODI.

"What pleased me most was winning and being there at the end to see it through. To do it against a big side like Australia gave me a great feeling of satisfaction and I was quite proud of myself," he added.

The 23-year-old now averages 55.75 in his 20 ODIs for England, a career record that keeps him ahead of the likes of Australia's Michael Bevan, Michael Hussey, M.S. Dhoni and Viv Richards. (ANI)
